Jude 1
- 1Jude, the servant of Jesus Christ, and brother of James, to those who are sanctified by God the Father, and preserved in Jesus Christ, and called.
- 2May mercy, peace, and love be multiplied to you.
- 3Beloved, while I was making every effort to write to you about the salvation we share, I found it necessary to write and urge you to fight hard for the faith that was once delivered to the saints.
- 4For there are some men who have crept in unnoticed, who were long ago marked out for this condemnation, godless men, turning the grace of our God into indecency, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ.
- 5I will therefore remind you, though you once knew this, that the Lord, having saved the people out of the land of Egypt, afterward destroyed those who did not believe.
- 6And the angels who did not keep their own position, but left their own home, he has reserved in everlasting chains under darkness to the judgment of the great day.
- 7Even as Sodom and Gomorrah, and the cities around them in like manner, giving themselves over to sexual immorality, and going after strange flesh, are shown as an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire.
- 8Likewise also these filthy dreamers defile the flesh, reject authority, and speak evil of dignities.
- 9Yet Michael the archangel, when he argued with the devil and disputed about the body of Moses, did not dare bring against him an insulting accusation, but said, The Lord rebuke you.
- 10But these speak evil of those things which they do not know. But what they know naturally, like animals without reason, in those things they corrupt themselves.
- 11Disaster is coming to them! For they have gone in the way of Cain, and run greedily after the error of Balaam for reward, and perished in the rebellion of Korah.
- 12These are spots in your feasts of love, when they feast with you, feeding themselves without fear. Clouds they are without water, carried about by winds. Trees in late autumn, without fruit, twice dead, plucked up by the roots.
- 13Raging waves of the sea, foaming out their own shame. Wandering stars, and for them the blackness of darkness is reserved forever.
- 14And Enoch also, the seventh from Adam, prophesied of these, saying, The Lord comes with ten thousands of his saints,
- 15To execute judgment on all, and to convict all that are godless among them of all their godless deeds which they have done in a godless way, and of all their harsh words which godless sinners have spoken against him.
- 16These are grumblers and complainers, following their own desires. They speak boastfully and flatter people to gain an advantage.
- 17But you, beloved, remember the words spoken beforehand by the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ.
- 18They told you there should be mockers in the last time, who should walk after their own godless desires.
- 19These are the ones who separate themselves. They are unspiritual and do not have the Spirit.
- 20But you, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit,
- 21Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to eternal life.
- 22And have compassion on some, making a distinction.
- 23And others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire, hating even the garment spotted by the flesh.
- 24Now to him who is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with great joy,
- 25To the only wise God our Savior, be glory and majesty, rule and power, both now and forever. Amen.
What changed from the KJV
GIGAKJV is a modern English revision of the King James Version. The comparison below uses the project's KJV text in the later 1769 tradition and marks, word by word, each verse of Jude 1 where the wording differs: struck-through words are the KJV's, highlighted words are GIGAKJV's.
