Copyright & Licensing
The Giga King James Version (GIGAKJV) revises a KJV text in the later 1769 tradition. The project claims rights only in eligible original contributions, not the underlying KJV text.
1. Quoting Policy
You may quote up to 1,000 verses of the GIGAKJV without written permission, provided that:
- The verses quoted do not amount to a complete book of the Bible.
- The verses quoted do not account for more than 50% of the total work in which they are quoted.
When quoting the GIGAKJV, the following copyright notice must appear on the title or copyright page of the work:
"Scripture quotations are taken from the Giga King James Version (GIGAKJV). Copyright © 2026 The GIGAKJV Project. Used by permission. All rights reserved."
For non-commercial and non-salable media (such as church bulletins, orders of service, slides, posters, or flyers), a complete copyright notice is not required, but the initials (GIGAKJV) must appear at the end of each quotation.
2. Trademark Notice
The terms "Giga King James Version"™ and "GIGAKJV"™ are claimed as common-law trademarks of The GIGAKJV Project. (No trademark registration is currently claimed; registrations are planned.)
- You may not use these marks to describe any Bible translation text that has been modified from this official version without express written consent.
- Publication of physical editions, commercial distribution, or competitive digital apps using these trademarks requires formal licensing.
3. Legal Foundation
The drafting policy uses the KJV and documented source-language evidence. Copyrighted modern translations are not wording templates. Complete source-language verification and historical provenance review remain pending.
Under 17 U.S.C. § 103, protection for a derivative work concerns eligible new authorship and does not extend ownership to preexisting material. Original editorial writing and study material may qualify; automatic word or pronoun substitutions do not establish protection.
The project's automated checks assess reproducibility, verse coverage, and a limited phrase watchlist. A match does not prove copying, and a pass does not establish copyright clearance.
The KJV is public domain in the United States. UK Crown printing rights and rights in particular editions and databases must be considered separately. The project's permissions apply to its own eligible contributions.

Hebrew and Greek word checks and the person and place tap-cards use data from STEPBible.org (Tyndale House, Cambridge): the Translators Amalgamated Hebrew OT and Greek NT (TAHOT, TAGNT) and Translators Individualised Proper Names (TIPNR), licensed under CC BY 4.0. The card wording is our own, built from those records.
4. Copyright Concerns & Complaints
If you are a rights holder and believe any content on this site infringes your copyright, please see our Copyright Complaints & DMCA Policy. We review claims against the wording, underlying sources, and available provenance records. Shared wording alone is not a finding of infringement.
