2 Timothy 1
- 1Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, according to the promise of life which is in Christ Jesus,
- 2To Timothy, my dearly beloved son. Grace, mercy, and peace, from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Lord.
- 3I thank God, who I serve as my forefathers did, with pure conscience, that without stopping I have remembrance of you in my prayers night and day.
- 4Greatly desiring to see you, being mindful of your tears, that I may be filled with joy.
- 5When I call to remembrance the genuine faith that is in you, which lived first in your grandmother Lois, and your mother Eunice, and I am persuaded that it lives in you also.
- 6Therefore I put you in remembrance that you fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you by the putting on of my hands.
- 7For God has not given us the spirit of fear, but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.
- 8So do not be ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, or of me his prisoner, but share in the sufferings of the gospel according to the power of God.
- 9Who has saved us, and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began,
- 10But is now revealed by the appearing of our Savior Jesus Christ, who has abolished death, and has brought life and immortality to light through the gospel.
- 11To which I am appointed a preacher, and an apostle, and a teacher of the Gentiles.
- 12For which cause I also suffer these things. But I am not ashamed. For I know the one I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed to him for that day.
- 13Hold fast the form of sound words, which you have heard of me, in faith and love which is in Christ Jesus.
- 14That good thing which was committed to you keep by the Holy Spirit who lives in us.
- 15This you know, that all those who are in Asia are turned away from me, and among them are Phygellus and Hermogenes.
- 16The Lord give mercy to the house of Onesiphorus, for he often refreshed me, and was not ashamed of my chain.
- 17But, when he was in Rome, he sought me out very carefully, and found me.
- 18The Lord grant to him that he may find mercy of the Lord in that day. And in how many things he served me at Ephesus, you know very well.
What changed from the KJV
GIGAKJV is a modern English revision of the King James Version. The comparison below uses the project's KJV text in the later 1769 tradition and marks, word by word, each verse of 2 Timothy 1 where the wording differs: struck-through words are the KJV's, highlighted words are GIGAKJV's.
